A continuation of Strandherd, crossing the Rideau River, was a concept for many years until it was finally realized. The bridge was the 2015 winner of the Gustav Lindenthal Medal. It is named after the Battle of Vimy Ridge, as suggested by two Royal Canadian Legions in Ottawa. But most motorists on their way home at rush hour may have different thoughts in mind, "how much longer until I am home." It is a very well used bridge.
