Not far from the Supreme Court of Canada, up and across the street is this sclulpture, that many will barely notice. But in fact, this sculpture was a centrepience for the Canadian Pavillion at EXPO 67, perhaps at Canada's height in terms of our place in the world and our economy, with many Canadian institutions cemented, things like health care, infrastructure like the St. Lawrence Seaway, our peace keeping role, the early days of industry where Canada began to lead in telecommunications and other industry. Canada came together and invited the world, and the future was hopeful - its architecture was elevated and space aged, a lot of triangles. Hence this sculpture, named "Flight" by Eror Etrog completed in 1966. I like the play of light in this image which added its own angles, as well as the extruded look of the sculpture from this angle. As a side note: I was there as a young child and have some memories of EXPO 67, one of which was getting separated from my parents and turned into the lost children's centre, where I had a pile of fun with other kids without a worry in the world. As it was for Canada then too, no worries, just a hopeful future.

Go: Not far from the Supreme Court of Canada -- your parking area after hours --then walk up Wellington a bit opposite side and look for it. I've marked it exactly on the map.
