One of the goals of Ottawaplaces.ca is to gather images that define our neighbourghoods and nearby towns. Whether that's Westboro, Gatineau Park, downtown, Stittsville or Kingston -- each of our neighbourhoods or municpalities nearby have defining images that we recognize. They become anchors to the communities that we live in and help us feel rooted and connected. Imagine a set of three smaller black and white framed images that captures this for you. Or perhaps a large colour sweeping landscape.
You will notice there are some "photosets" already on the site. Here's one for
Hintonburg (see the bottom of the image for the photoset). Here's another with Pakenham's
5-span bridge and nearby Blakenay (again, scroll to bottom of page to see related photoset). How about
Stittsvile, or the
Canadian Museum of History. You can see all the current photosets
here and there will be more each week.
How about mixing in one of you in the scene (walking, cycling, sitting, ...) . Have you been on the Chief William Commanda bridge yet?
If you might like some photos, one that is set up as you like for online use or (hi-res) for printing or framing, we can do that. Perhaps mixing in a few images from this site with a few we do on a photoshoot. Get your very own set of Photos that you've had a hand in creating. Have we missed your neighbourhood, let me know if you want to do a photowalk and show me around.
Pick a destination, and let's get creative.
What are my credentials? Apart from being the developer of this site, I have also taken several courses at SPAO, including photoshop and lightroom for post-production, and like many photography enthusiasts, it's really about daily use and progressing. I am doing just that through taking photos for this site, and offering photo shoots.
